About the Artist
Markel Capo was born in Pogradec, Albania on June 28, 1989, and is currently based in Tirana. A lifelong student of the arts, he began his journey at the “Tefta Tashko Koço” Artistic High School in Korça, specializing in Painting. He later pursued studies at the Faculty of Education and Philology in Korça and completed a professional course in Graphic Design at “Harry Fultz” in Tirana.
His distinctive artistic voice emerged into the spotlight in 2019, when he won the “Contemporary Albanian Art” competition, organized by the World Bank Office in Tirana in collaboration with the University of Arts. Out of 220 submissions from across the country, his work was selected among the top 25 and showcased at the prestigious “Zeta” Gallery.
Capo has participated in numerous cultural events and collective exhibitions, and has held two solo exhibitions:
Solo Exhibitions
🎨 “Ku(k)llat” (2016)
A reflection on the strength of women once seen as “dolls,” silently holding up the gates and fortresses of our culture.
🎨 “Kurorë Guri” (2019)
A poetic homage to the Albanian woman — a symbol of resilience, dignity, and timeless power.
